These are a cute idea in kits. The kits includes a shadow box which is unfinished. they can be used as is shown below or painted a color to suit your décor. the stitcher cross stitches the background and there is trinket (such as a sled, books, bicycle) to adhere to the box in the foreground to add a 3-D touch.
Once you try them You've got to stitch more. 

However these have been discontinued by the company so get them while supplies last
